About Motherland

Why motherland?

It’s our history. It’s the roots of our culture. It’s the land that we feel a connection and love for.

About
Natasha

Born in Kenya, moved to Los Angeles, a mother of 3, entrepreneur, designer, Lupus warrior, writer, teacher, part-time photographer, and daughter of the motherland, her life’s work has become to bring the richness of African culture to those who have felt disconnected from it.

A desire to share

We provide a way to reconnect with a land and heritage our ancestors were forced to leave. We hope that these small pieces of art can bring that feeling and pride.

Our Vendors

All of our vendors are experts at their craft and feed in the utmost love and respect for their culture into each and every item they create. We are fortunate to work with such a passionate group of people with an intense knowledge of each pieces heritage and history. It’s important to us to pay them a generous wage for their work.

A piece from the motherland just for you.

Whether you want to decorate your home with a piece of African art, or wear a beautiful set of earrings, we have a variety of items for sale in our shop.

Library funding in Kenya

We are doing a little more for our families in Africa, starting with funding a library in Kenya. Part of our proceeds go to this project, and we also have a book available where every purchase directly goes to funding this project.
